Cait's Quest - Pg 3 (Patreon)

Deciding that time was of the essence, Cait lunges forward, tugging against the tendrils that gripped her body.  Her hands outstretched, eyes pleading for the help of the swamp woman watching her demise.

This woman could then see what had snatched this traveler up; it was a hideous monstrosity of a fish that uses tentacles to ensare prey to devour whole and alive.  Not a huge threat to a wary wild woman like herself, but deadly to ignorant travelers who happen to step on one.  She had an inclination to leave this idiotic girl to her fate, but also knew that being consumed by this bog creature was a horrific fate indeed, having witnessed it a few times already.  At once, she reached out and grabbed Cait's hand, tugging firmly and releasing her from the grip of the tendrils.

At last, Cait was able to shake her leg free of the last tendril and hit solid ground on all fours.  Hearing the fish monster slink back into the waters with what sounded like an annoyed grumble, the two woman panted at the water's edge.  It wouldn't dare come too close to the shallows to grab her again, the swamp woman knew.  And she offered a cool smile to Cait as she looked up.  But all Cait saw was a giant maw, quickly closing down on her rescuer!

It was a giant serpent...and Cait heard a shocked and desperate scream from within its mouth as the other woman became its food.  At once, Cait prepared to draw her sword and face the overgrown critter down, but out of the corner of her eye she could see another serpent hanging from the trees, slithering towards her!  It wasn't as large, but now Cait had two snakes to contend with, maybe more??
