Cait's Quest - Pg 1 (Patreon)

On her 19th birthday, Cait the noob adventurer sets off from her small, starving town in order to save it.  She heard legends of a rare, fast growing wheat that can only be found in her home province; just the sort of miracle that could feed her town on the verge of collapse.  Perhaps a mundane goal for your average dragon-fighting champion, but an important one to this brave young woman, devoted to helping her hometown.

Armed with her newly-acquired hand-me-down sword, Leafwind, she bids farewell to her family  and ventures into the wilderness.  She knows she has quite a bit of exploring to do before she comes across this crop.  She is also aware that her land is inhabited by legions of hungry creatures and monsters...but Cait was fearless as much as she was inexperienced.  A good combination?  We'll see.

Not long after setting out does she come to a fork in the road int he front of a large mountain.  On the other side was a city she needed to reach that would surely give her some more clues to find her treasure.  To get there  she could take a path through the Mal Swamp to the south, or travel through the Paki woods to the north.  To the east of her were mountains, through which she could certainly travel through a cave or to; not unheard of for these mountains according to various merchants.  This would surely be the quickest way, albeit potentially more dangerous.
