So the Karasuno and Nekoma team names are derived from crow (karasu) and neko (cat) that's why you see the crow and cat symbolism. The "Battle Of The Garbage Dump" isn't an insult. It's just a reference to crows and (stray) cats as both animals are scavengers that will feed on garbage. The guys who showed up at the practice match are the neighborhood association guys that helped out at that one practice match where Sugawara, Asahi, and Noya played on the other side with them. Kenma isn't the captain of the team. Kuroo is. A lot of setters are team captains though because it's the position that has the most responsibility on court. Setters are the "control tower". They run the offense and make the plays. They're basically the quarterbacks of volleyball. Interestingly Karasuno and Nekoma are a bit unique as the captains of both teams aren't the setter.

Loving these reactions, they're probably the #1 reason I am a patron. "Ace in yo face!" made me lol. Thanks for the great content, the effort you put in always shows. And thanks to the commenters adding context and explanation.

Chiming in with some context! Re: the setters attacking. For the most part, while setters can attack, setters mostly control and set up plays on the court and get the ball up to their teammates who attack for the team. Since setters don't usually attack, they can catch their opponents off guard by strategically choosing to attack (aka dump) while making it look like they're gonna set. Sometimes a dump looks like the setter in the front and hitting it straight down at the net (what Kenma did) or it can be spiking (what Kageyama did)
