The pacing of modern "shounen" anime is fast because old shounen shows like Naruto, dragon ball, one piece and bleach had very slow pacing and after a while fans got super bored and annoyed at how much they dragged some stuff. So modern authors nowadays always write very fast pace stories in anime. It also lessens their overwork issues quite a bit due to having less panels to draw.

It was because the anime would catch up to the source manga most times, and the author needed more time to finish, so the showrunners made their own filler eps when that happened.

As always, a fun reaction. Especially the recap at the start. Love that you always reference MHA or Death Note. I found the pacing to be a bit off too, but rather than fast, it came off as a bit scattered and then this next couple seems to slow things down and then it picked up again and the end seems a bit sudden, but fast and interesting. But overall I was interested in the story and a lot of the characters. So much, that I picked up were S1 left off with the manga and I’ve really been enjoying that. It also seems like it’s paced better from then on.
