RavenLord

I watched Dark Shadows last night, Angel just an hour or so ago, and now The Vampire Diaries. I’m really getting my supernatural fix today! Plus several friends coming over for immersion into a fantasy RPG world (probably Pathfinder). Yep, today is a good day. By the way, I looked up whether or not there was Dark Shadows influence on The Vampire Diaries, and as it turns out, TVD producer Kevin Williamson is a huge Dark Shadows fan! Of course, DS is the grandfather of the modern-day vampire series. 😊 Though I’m currently re watching from the beginning, when it was simply a haunting, Gothic atmosphere and ghostly happenings; the vampire era of DS didn’t start until Season 7. Wolfsbane probably wouldn’t be easy to get your hands on for the average layperson. Unless maybe if you knew where to look in the wild, as it’s not really uncommon, I don’t think. But it *is* poisonous and needs to be carefully handled (even by non-Werewolves in a fictional world). Generally left to professionals to cultivate. I imagine that the Alnwick Garden, aka Poison Garden, in the UK has some! Vervain is basically verbena, I think, fairly common to find. Apologies for all the explanations, but I love looking up little bits of info like this and wanted to share with someone who is also watching the show. Watching Bonnie and Luka do a spell together reminded me of when Willow and Tara did their first real spell together. Though TVD is frustratingly heteronormative, lol. Still, it reinforces the idea of how intimate witchcraft would be, if magic were real. Didn’t look like Luka was too happy with himself for lying to Bonnie. Poor Tyler. It was about this time I really began to emphathize with the character. I don’t know of any other series that made Werewolf transformation look so excrutiating and a true curse. Even Buffy didn’t go that far, although Oz certainly did feel pain during his transformations. It's one of the most realistic transformations I’ve seen across series and films; they did a fantastic job, the artists and the actor. The eyes in particular are captivating.
