Meryl Smith

Jonathan Gilbert participating in the ultimate America's past time, good old fashioned cultural appropriation. He didn't invent anything, but took credit for it. David Anders plays unlikable characters pretty well, really brings a unique charm to John Gilbert, the Gilbert charm some would say. John finally has been revealed to be a cuck with Isobel showing putting him in his place. The Humanity Switch is pretty important thing is the series, sometimes it's used to cope with tough emotions or just to exist as a creature of the night. I understand completely why Bonnie made her decision and she has every right to feel the way she does. Also, the more you find about Elena's adoptive parents, the more you realize they would not have been okay with Elena having vampires in her life and they end sounding worse the more you find out about them

I'm finally just about caught up on The Vampire Diaries so that I can watch the reactions as you do them. Isobel is so....bleurgh. For being such a young vampire, she is a cold-blooded viper with more confidence than a young'un should have in the presence of much older vampires (Damon and Stefan). Damon says he turned off his humanity, but I think that's a lie; he can be cruel and often is, and he's a murderous fiend, but his emotions *are* there. So I don't believe he is inhuman. Isobel, on the other hand...the icy monotone, the false smile...the actor nails it perfectly. To paraphrase The Judge on Buffy, there is no humanity in her. I really want to follow your series on Buffy, Angel, Lucifer, Supernatural, and Charmed, but I just had to binge The Vampire Diaries and catch up, since you are currently doing this show and about to start Season 2. You're already on Season 7 of Supernatural, so I will likely start there instead of beginning at the beginning, LOL. Well, except for certain episodes prior to Season 7 that I will want to see your reaction. Thank you for doing captions on this! It really helps, because I love hearing your comments, but I also want to hear the show, and it's difficult sometimes to do both because that's just the nature of a reaction!
