Sam and John are both independent-minded. Dean is more family-oriented, like we saw Mary was in 4x3.

Yeah, I think Sam and John being so similar is why they often butted heads.

Poor Adam. He never actually got to meet his brothers and killed off way too young. Also poor Sam being bled out like that, he lost a LOT of blood and I'm surprised he was even able to sit up. This episode is called Jump the Shark, which is a trope where shows introduce a new family member because they're running out of ideas. Well SPN subverted it a bit - 'here's your brother, but we're gonna kill him off' lol. It just adds to the craziness of the 2nd half of this season lol. It's quite the ride this season! And it's nearly always up there in people's favourite season.

Just yesterday I watched a reaction to 1x06, in which Dean lectures Sam on having to cut connections and all that. Very interesting to see.

You're right in that season is my 2nd favorite season overall . It's just great. I believe from episode 15 through the finale and into the beginning of Season 5, there is not a bad episode at all. And Adam was too cute to die😢
