Jake was way too trusting that Chucky would only go after Lexi. She had a point to throw out Caroline could've been killed when she first confronted Jake. He's a murderous doll, the fact that Caroline could've been viewed as expendable (or really anyone in Lexi's house) to Chucky should have been something Jake should've considered. Clearly Chucky then showed he's not above putting her in danger for a plan. Though Chucky was manipulating Jake, it's still... not great to have Jake that naive. Especially when there's Devon over here looking up Charles' history and piecing everything together on his own. The parents throwing stones was a good insight into the kids lives without them being in the scenes. Devon's Mom having to be dragged into it as she's really just trying to do her job explains how Devon (imo) is a more put together and resourceful kid than the rest.
