Chess Red Eagle

Xanders speech at the end always gets me.

I feel like Dawn forgot she used to be a million yr old ball of of energy! But in all seriousness I have a heck of a lot of respect for Xander- honestly I think he’s one of the bravest a lot of times. No special powers or abilities- yet he chooses to go out and fight with them. I think him being the “heart” of the group is so accurate. Also, as a younger sister of someone who was good at everything- I also kind of related to Dawn at times.

I find it interesting how they bring up Buffy being mentally ill several times in this show.

Get out, GET OUT, GET OUUUTTT!!! Sorry, couldn't resist. XD I consider Dawn one of the most consistently successful characters in the series, more so than even Xander, Anya and Giles. In that the way we feel about her is exactly how they intended for us to feel about her. Every time she was annoying was by design. Her introduction to the series remains one of the best decisions they made because what it did for Buffy's maturity gave us two of the most brilliant seasons on television to this day in seasons 5 and 6. Whenever detractors bring up that Dawn is annoying or weak or pointless, just remember how she was written in Act 2 of The Body. She was given two absolutely banal and meaningless conversations and like 7 minutes of screen time in a very important episode... and it was masterful! That is exactly why she is so important to the show, Dawn represents the humanity Buffy and co fight for on a daily basis: deeply flawed, often pedestrian, but ultimately good-hearted and worth the sacrifice.

Really like how Buffy's talk to the potentials echoes what Spike told Buffy about being the Slayer in Fool For Love. Death is what the Slayer thinks about every day. .Sometimes her own when it gets to be too much.
