Introducing another super-powered player in Gwen was a good idea on paper, but the way they wrote her didn't really make her seem as endearing as they wanted her to be. In making her seem cool, what we see is a rich, beautiful, smart, athletic young woman with superpowers. So it's hard to stomach the moments where we are supposed to pity her or think that she has massive struggles in life. Having her betray the team repeatedly and even kill one of them out of recklessness also didn't help. It didn't feel earned that Angel gave her pass after pass when he didn't think twice in condemning other "grey" characters in the past. Her character still has potential though, if she does return with a more sympathetic characterisation, she'd be really interesting.

I first saw this episode when I was 17 so I didn't really get it at the time, but now that I'm older, watching Fred begin to break down under all the emotional labor hits HARD.

I love Gwen! Smart, sexy, cool, and has a conscience. One of my favorite guest stars!
