The way that alley scene was shot was incredible! Darla’s hand going out of frame to her last line...brilliant! And the prophecy was true. No birth, just death.

I love you mentioning Tim Minear because he doesn't get enough credit for the work he did on this show. Yes Joss is the obvious name but without Tim Minear, we never would've gotten any of the backstory of Darla dating back to season 2. He's a huge reason as to why she became how she was. He even helped with the Faith redemption arc in season 1. He wrote one of the best Angel episodes, "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?" so for the most part when you see his name in the writing credits, expect a great episode. And for some reason, he was usually stuck with the Darla centric episodes and he always did a brilliant job at it. I think a lot of fans didn't know Tim Minear fought for the "Darla" episode in season 2 because at first Joss didn't want to do it because they were doing a Spike centric episode "Fool in Love" on Buffy but they finally thought of probably making some flashbacks tie and now "Darla" and "Fool For Love" are the perfect episodes to watch together. We know Joss by name clearly but David Greenwalt and Tim Minear did a lot of the storylines on this show and was a huge reason for the suceess.

I love Darla so this episode is always so tough yet in a way a bit rewarding for her character because she's always been the character to do anything to survive! Her survival was her main importance and when she finally had a love like her love for her baby boy, she sacrificed herself for him. It's just a moment you couldn't see coming from a character like Darla but it truly showed her growth. I will miss the heck out of Angel and Darla scenes. However, I do love that even in death, they are STILL connected through their baby boy. Angel and Darla have a relationship that can't quite get matched because of being together for over 150 years and of course the son. Pretty difficult to match up to all of that.

Darla was the best thing to happen on Angel imo. And this ending, while very sad, was very good for her.

So I've seen your profile pic because pics do stand out and after watching this and posting this to Patreon, I knew this would sting for you. As you said, it shows how much Darla has grown. After this episode, I was thinking back to the minor character in Buffy to how she has grown so so much not just in importance but character as well.

yeah, be careful of Tim Minear written episodes, they usually pack a punch and have great character developments.
