I don't care if I am in the minority here but I felt this episode here rushed Angel/Cordy entirely too much. Darla's pregnancy was more about Cordy's feelings instead of Angel reaction to being a father, one thing he never thought was possible until those last few minutes of the episode when Angel realizes that the baby has a soul... I loved Darla's return and anger and the Holtz stuff is insanity.

Protagonists don't have to be good guys or even rootable, actually. A protagonist is merely a character with a defined goal who we follow as they attempt to achieve that goal. An antagonist is merely the character or institution that stands in the way of the protagonist achieving that goal. Walter White in Breaking Bad is a meth cook but we follow his journey to make money for his family as antagonists try to stop him.
