I loved your reaction to this episode and of course the end of the episode that no one ever expects, "Life's full of surprise." que to Darla's turn to reveal the pregnant belly. Perfectly done because like you, I think most of us assumed we would only really see Julie Benz portrayal of Darla in the flashbacks this season and that ending showed us umm.... I guess we will see her in the present as well. lol The Cordy/Angel scenes were incredible. I love that Cordy tried to see through Angel in the whole episode to see what he was going through instad of the he's okay line that he was giving everyone else. It just shows how much Cordy truly has grown and it's wonderful to watch. Also, Angel reason for feeling like he betrayed Buffy made a lot of sense. He probably assumed Buffy's death would break him but it didn't. Also Fred is a lovely addition to the cast and I already love the family team of Angel, Cordy, Wes and Gunn! They have just grown so much as a group and friends and they've become a family and let's see how/if Fred can blend into that. Right now she's still recovering from the events of Pylea but I love to watch it.

I think this is the first time I noticed that Darla says "Life is full of surprises" twice in this episode - the first is in the flashback, to which Angelus replies "Life is boring. YOU'RE full of surprises." OMG the foreshadowing to the ending of the episode is right there!!

(Waits 42 minutes for Liam to see the final reveal): "Worth it!"

Something to keep in mind, Starting with this episode, Buffy and Angel are now on two different networks. I feel like this episode of Angel, the show’s way of kind of moving past the Buffy/Angel relationship for now because of the different networks. The network that Angel is on, The WB, basically cancelled Buffy after season 5. UPN saved it for season 6, but you have to think that The WB now not having Buffy, wanted Angel to move on and be it’s own thing. You might have noticed that they don’t even say Buffy’s name most of the episode. As for the episode itself? I’m not a huge fan. The comparison of James/Elizabeth to Angel/Buffy is a little bit too on the nose. I’d prefer a little more subtlety. Plus I don’t feel any connection to James and Elizabeth as characters despite them trying with the flashbacks. They just feel like generic brand replacement Spike and Dru. I love Cordy and Angel scenes (actually all of Cordy scenes really are great). And the Fred stuff is pretty adorable too. Great shock ending with Darla. But the meat of this story with James is just bleh for me.
