Now that the cat is out of the bag, definitely rewatch Buffy’s dream in the season 4 finale, Restless if time permits. You already noted previous foreshadowing in the Buffy/Faith dream sequence, there’s more of it in that episode too! This episode, however, surely makes you feel for both Buffy and Dawn. Your heart really breaks for both of them. Although Dawn didn’t get “Flashpoint-ed” in, it was still a great theory! It’ll be interesting to see how Buffy deals with the information moving forward. I did like the moments of levity with Anya and Spike! They are low key (pun) some of my favorite characters so far this season! Also, Giles and that grand opening costume...perfection!

This is the point in the season that a lot of fans can’t help being spoilery, even if they think it’s subtle.......BEWARE! There’s a lot of neat little details in this episode, but I can’t really talk about them right now. Just can say that there’s more references to Wizard of Oz in this episode than just the title.

I love Clare Cramer's (cray-cray red dress lady) performance here. It took me some time to warm up to it, but I've really come to appreciate the physicality and over-the-top woo-woo that she brings.

As much as I love the abomination (one of my favorite villains), it always disturbed me that female villains had mental illnesses (Drusilla, cray cray red dress lady) while their male counterpart don't...

I mean I’m not sure what S6 and S7 holds or even if there are other people in the Buffyverse who are male antagonists with mental illnesses though you can say they do carry the most heinous of traits such as abuse etc. But it is an interesting note to pick up on

It works so well. Like it feels naturally intimidating and I suspect given the comments of how essential it is to protect Dawn, we haven’t seen the last of her which means more time for her to shine so I’m pretty stoked to see what she has cooked up

Lonelyjesse

I meant so far because I don't want to be spoilery I assumed I didn't need to say it sorry

Tania

I don't think two is enough to call it a pattern tbh

Lonelyjesse

I wasn't identifying a pattern saying that the female villains had mental illness but I'm just saying that only women have mental illness in this show (except for the abomination's victims)

I love how quickly you pick up on themes and character development lines and foreshadowing, Liam. Great reaction as always!

I have always loved this episode with buffy finding out about dawn and meeting cray cray red dress lady I love that nick name btw it suits her lol and Giles's grand opening and giving Anya a job and also it breaks my heart at the end with buffy and Dawn's little heart to heart talk and how helpless dawn sound when she asks what's wrong with mum she sound like a little kid with the way she says it her tone just breaks my heart
