I continue to experiment with water-miscible oils! For this piece I switched to a different brand and I'm really glad I looked on the forums for people's experiences, because otherwise I wouldn't have known this brand existed. Blick doesn't carry it, only Jerry's Artorama. And I LOVE it so much better than the Holbein Duos. If you look at this first picture, at the palette on the right, you can see the paints are sitting in those dark amber puddles? Those are the separated oils. This brand is a billion times creamier/easier to spread. It also stays wet. The Duos dried within hours, which is just wrong. I want to be able to work the thing at various levels of dryness, and I can't do that if it dries instantly and yes several hours is instantly. Plus, that means the paint stays wet on the palette, instead of drying up overnight despite all my attempts to keep it fresh. (Yes, I even tried vacuum-sealing it. It was... messy.)

Anyway, I continue to learn. My newest observations involve needing either a different shape brush or a different stiffness, because my flexy watercolor brushes are just too soft for what I like to do. I've ordered some new supplies, to see if I can continue iterating my way to where I want to work. Also I am figuring out how I need my workspace arranged in order to paint more comfortably and I think I will have to make some changes there too. We'll see.

My husband keeps asking me when I'm going to sell some of these paintings and I keep making 'heh heh soon run away' expressions at him. *maximum sweating*

Anyway, if this one isn't done, it's close enough. I doubt I'll work it further. But it's the Eldritch with the meander roll and I guess I'll mention all these paintings are for sale to see if I can defer the cost of some of this stuff. 😂

The serenity on her face is lovely. I would think you would have to have a serene nature to create meander. Just lovely!
