Team Marble Battle - Multiplying Mayhem (Chaos League S1 Finale) (Patreon)
Content
WOOOOOOOO. The final episode of season 1 is out! Congrats to the winners and top leaderboard performers. Creating Chaos League has been a labor of love. It has been a lot of work, but I'm incredibly proud of the result. This series wouldn't have been possible without the support of all of you, and for that, I am truly grateful.
So where to from here?
Before Season 1 finished, I had already started working on Season 2. The bread and butter of what makes me excited, and what makes Chaos League interesting, is the interaction between my creativity and your creativity. Right now this connection is rather narrow (you don't have a ton of influence over the outcome of the video, only customizing how your character looks), but have some ideas to vastly widen that connection and improve that experience.
What can I improve?
1. Decrease the wait time
- Right now you have to wait a long time to see the outcome of how your character performs. If you make a change to customize your marble, you won't see it until I finish building a new video, which takes time.
2. Add an element of skill / choice
- Some RNG is fun and makes for a novel experience. Currently, the format of Chaos League is video, so it allows for no input from the players during simulation, and the winner is purely left up to chance. Players are also disincentivized to want new players to join, because that only decreases their odds of winning. We want more players to be a win win for everyone.
How can I make these improvements? WE'RE GOING LIVE!
Upgrading the format of Chaos League from video to livestream is the missing key to the puzzle. A few simple inputs from players in the live chat can give you direct control over the simulation. It would no longer be a game of pure chance. Strategy and skill could emerge, opening the door to completely new game types.
The Chaos League can run off of 2 crucial elements.
1. Chaos League Discord Bot
- This bot is how you will interact directly with a real-time database server to control your profile. This could allow players spend the points you've earned on new abilities / items, give points to other players, create teams / clans, and much more. This bot can also be used to connect your messages in the livestream chat to your Chaos League ID.
2. Chaos League Livestream
- The livestream could be on any platform, YouTube, tiktok, twitch. You wouldn't need to download anything to play. It's as simple as clicking on a livestream link, and you occasionally type a message in chat to spawn/control your player. The game would be free to play, but members of the chaos league would have special abilities otherwise unavailable to people who aren't signed up. And best of all, there's no limit to how many people can join the stream at once!
This isn't my first rodeo. I've created interactive livestreams in previous years, but now I am a much better programmer. I know from experience what does and doesn't work in a livestream game, and I can approach this with a new mindset to hopefully make something special for you guys.
I'm excited to give this new format a try for season 2. I think it will be even more fun, and you guys deserve the best! It sounds cheesy, but I want to feel more connected to you guys, the players, and I think these upgrades can achieve that.
But the most important opinion is yours! Let me know if you have any notes from Season 1, things that you liked, or didn't like. I always want to improve and do my best for you guys. I'm just a dude working on projects that I think are exciting, and I appreciate you all being here with me on the journey. I won't stop until this is the best entertainment value for your money on the platform.
