A problem this book can't help but have versus its predecessor is the compressed timeframe. Forrest Gump was able to pick out bits of history from 30 years of history for Forrest to get caught up in, versus the most recent 10 years for this one. Maybe in another reality he lived longer and instead wrote a sequel in the 2010s that had less pig shit in it.
