Alright, alright, I saw the post, so I recruited my parents to help me test fly the evil bird kite. It did not stay up long enough to try to send it any notes, but I think it's easy to see how one could get obsessed with sitting and watching one of these hover in the air (in between going to sleep in consecutive sentences, of course.) Perhaps in retrospect I should have read the reviews which specified " This is not a "get it up and forget" kind of kite" and " If you are looking for a kite to just toss up in the sky and let it sit, this isn't it. You actually have to fly this thing. It was work."

That said, who thinks Mike should buy the same kite and try it out??

******EDIT****

Mike responds: Ordered, though I'm a little underwhelmed at its size, I'm gonna try to go bigger.

Evil Bird Kite

Here's my attempt to replicate Edgar Caswall's Evil Bird Kite from Bram Stoker's "Lair of the White Worm"

Word on the street (okay, my weather channel app) told me there's lots of wind in your area today, Conor! Let that baby fly! Also, it's a Chinese tradition to cut the string of your kite and "release" your bad luck. If you happen to find a kite that someone else released.....I'm not sure what happens. I can tell you it's a metaphor for loss of childhood and also the dominant symbol of Jia Tan-Chun. So....yeah. Kites.
