Hello everyone! Barring any disasters, I'm expecting the Hydra update to be deployed sometime this week. I will give a concrete notice at least one day before.

TL;DR:
When the update drops, DO NOT run the one-time update wizard on mobile or in an incognito window. Once the update is done you can resume, but mobile and incognito support for LK remains sketchy, as it always has been.

This is LK's most taxing update ever: expect instability.

Huge projects (200+) articles will take a while to one-time-update.  LK saves intermediate progress in the event of an unexpected interruption.

Hydra works best with "regular" mode in browsers. Private browsing modes prevent saving local data, which means all the offline features will not work.

Desktop app coming within a few days of Hydra stabilizing.

Sharedlandia is being archived and will be inaccessible; copy from it now while you have the chance.

Here's how the update will go down:

1. On the day of the update, I will start the process in the morning of the US Central timezone.

2. I will take a manual backup of the current database. The Hydra update actually treats all "old" LK data as read-only, so there's actually no risk here, but... hey it pays to be prepared.

3. I will deploy the new Hydra application, and be on standby all day to address issues.

4. When you access LegendKeeper, you'll see the standard "LegendKeeper has a new update, click here" prompt.

5. From then on, whenever a project owner accesses their project and it hasn't been updated yet, they'll see this one-time-update prompt. Project members and admins will be locked out of the project until the owner performs the update.

As the dialog says, do not run this update wizard on mobile or in incognito mode.

Once you've completed this update, your wiki and atlas can be viewed, edited, and searched offline. When you open your project, LK will only sync new changes since you were last online, which is super-fast. If you use incognito mode, you'll be re-syncing the entire project every time you open LK, so I don't recommend that.

It probably goes without saying, but if you go offline, edit your project, and then clear your browsing data, uninstall your browser, or microwave your hard drive, without reconnecting and letting LK sync your project again, you will lose your edits. This is how every offline/online hybrid application works, so please keep this in mind. LK tells you its sync status in the top right corner; you won't miss it. The LK desktop app will be released within a few days of LK Hydra stabilizing, so hopefully by the end of the week.

Sorry for the wall of text. This is a huge paradigm shift for LK so there's a lot going on. Overall I'm super pleased with Hydra; the offline support is so cool and it runs really well. The biggest challenge is just getting everyone switched over to the new system. I envy new users who will just have a super smooth experience out of the box :P

Let me know if you have any questions!
