Soundcore Space One (Patreon)

I want to tell you the story around the recently released and already praised Soundcore Space One headphone.

Initially I was asked for a paid review about this headphone and was sent a sample unit some weeks ago. The sound was so horrid that I didn’t accept the deal also because there were too many limitations regarding what I could say and do. For example I wasn’t allowed to compare it to other Soundcore headphones etc etc.

The headphone itself is just another iteration of the Q30 design but with very hollow build quality and ear cups that are resonating, something the Q30 doesn’t have. Sound quality is abysmal with droning overpowering bass, hollow sounding mids and no definition to the sound. Above all the headphone has some codec issues with iOS, I reported this to Anker but there was no response. It cannot play clean from an iPhone with hearable artefacts and side noises probably due to some AAC incompatibility, which most (paid) reviewers obviously didn’t even notice.

To cut it short, I will prepare an honest video soon with some sound samples comparing it to the Q30 which still plays in a completely other league especially after some slight EQ adjustment.

Funnily all headphones after the Q30 like the Q35, Q45 and now the Space One sound considerably worse than the Q30 which just proves that the basic tuning they managed for the Q30 was just random luck.

I will also need to test the quality of the allegedly class leading ANC and do some measurements before preparing my final review, but I wanted to wait until the official release and hoped for some firmware update, which unfortunately didn’t happen yet, so stay tuned.
