We arrived in Italy yesterday and I am currently at the beach listening with the Free Pro 2 and a completely new tuning which I quickly finished the night before leaving.

At first I wanted to take the HD58X together with the Qudelix with me but then I decided to spent some hours the night before we left analysing the measurements of both headphones/earphones that Oratory1990 made on his rig. I wanted to achieve more or less the same sound for my Free Pro 2 unit which I am hearing from the HD58X with my current neutral target and I think I managed a first quick result which I am pretty satisfied with. It’s not 100% the same as I cannot quite use the measurements precisely because both responses matched perfectly sound completely different, therefore I needed to approximate it by ear using my existing Free Pro 2 tuning for upper mids and treble and then readjusted bass to make them sound more similar. According to the measurements this results in a huge dip between 600-1000hz compared to the HD58X but if I raise this it starts to sound off again. This may be a result of the GRAS system not measuring precisely with that shallow insertion depth or simply a significant difference in sound perception between overears and IEMs, not quite sure. As I have not enough filters to model the bass area precisely for the Free Pro 2 I left it when I achieved something satisfying.

I am not sure if there are still any Free Pro 2 users here but I can post my current setting which should be much closer to my current “neutral target” than my previous approaches. This setting will only work for those with an ear canal resonance of 6000hz or close to this.

Thanks to this I am listening to more music again right now. It always took me quite a bit to get used to my previous Free Pro 2 tuning when I was listening with the HD58X for longer before. Now I can enjoy both equally well and have a tiny convenient listening solution for on the go.

I am still waiting for any feedback regarding my HD58X EQ in order to know how others perceive it.

I'm still using these, almost daily. At the gym especially. Really hoping for a proper Noise Cancelling mode on the next one without the boomy bass. Tried out the latest tuning you posted and I quite enjoy it a lot. Thank you.
