News: Nubert & Meze (Patreon)

I managed to recover a bit from the past weeks and today I received 2 packages from Nubert. Included are the SP-200 which I already unboxed and placed below the A28 for a direct comparison as well as the SP-500 which are crazy heavy and still inside their packaging. I am currently listening to the SP-200 with the A28 side by side and am shocked about how different they sound. I would like to shoot a first video probably tomorrow. I am also planning to compare them in regard of TV sound. The Nuberts are also able to decode DTS and Dolby Audio over HDMI while the Audio Pros only accept PCM. I was not satisfied with the TV sound of the A28 because dialogs appeared way too soft compared to effects etc, the Nuberts have several wide modes including a dedicated voice enhancement which probably takes the center channel into account as well, therefore I hope they could do a better job.

I am also planning to comapre the SP-500 to the A48 which didn’t manage to convince me so far either. There will be more videos including both speakers as I want to concentrate on various aspects of the sound.

Soon I should also get the Meze 109 Pro headphone that everyone is raving about right now, claiming it to be the headphone of the year.

In the background I am still working on creating additional target variants for headphones with more side bias of captured spectrum. My first results seem quite promising and it will be interesting to compare different targets with different incoming spectrum biases. I hope this way I can manage to understand better how sound stage and changes in the frequency response are directly related.

I somehow had lost contact to Earfun as my main counterpart just got a baby and is not working now. They confirmed to continue the collaboration with me in future but I am not sure if I will work on their upcoming UBOOM XL and how far the project already evolved:
