Unfortunately I am currently sick, my son has brought Covid from school right before Eastern and then it caught my wife and finally me some days ago. They both could already recover but I still have my nose and ears blocked.

Nevertheless I was not lazy and because Earfun gave me access to the DSP I was able fine tune everything on my own. I was hoping to be able to squeeze out some deeper bass out of it, but to be honest it's pretty hard as you get into distortion prettty quickly, therefore I couldn't manage any miracles, still I think that both sound modes make a lot more sense now and both sound great on their own.

The indoor mode will basically have a pretty flat sound but nicely open and airy with little bass boost, but bass will have some nice depth to it. Don't expect some JBL Boombox bass, but it has a better quality than the Motion+ I would say, maybe also because the overall sound is just way nicer and more even. I really wanted to create something that I personally would like to listen to, something that would be at least on par or better than the current top perfomers like JBL Flip 6, Soundcore Motion+ or Soundlink Flex and to my surprise the Earfun sounds even quite nice when put against the "king" Denon Envaya. The Denon still has the edge in sound stage thanks to its stereo enhancing algorithm, unfortunately the DSP has no option for such kinds of effects. There is just an option for virtual bass, which didn't work that well and caused even more distortion, and various types of limiter and compression algorithms:

Getting the limiter correct was basically the crucial thing to not get into distortion while still keeping the bass as high as possible. As there is no option for dynamic EQ, the outdoor mode definitely comes in handy as it has way more bass boost and it will also be louder than indoor mode. Outdoor mode was too boomy for me for "normal" listening, while the indoor mode sounded too boring, therefore I tried to make both modes sound appealing on their own, although I would have preferred some additional bass boost for lowest levels with indoor, if you really want more bass take the outdoor mode as it's just a press of a button.

With outdoor mode it sounds really big, reminds me a bit of the first JBL Xtreme, but of course starts to reduce bass above 60% or something like that, there was no way to retain even more bass otherwise the sound wouldn't have been clean, I think I managed a nice compromise. Here both modes overlaid at different volume levels:

I am currently waiting for the final firmware including my recent tweaks and can hopefully confirm then that I didn't screw something up. So far I could only listen to my settings tethered to the PC, it's something different if you can take the speaker to other rooms or outdoors and listen there again. Therefore please be patient a bit until I can shoot a first sound demo with it.
