Welcome! I prepared a quick guide and link collection for all newcomers how to get access to the internal EQ of the Earfun Free Pro and Free Pro 2 (the Earfun Air Pro 2 will also work, but it will always default to the factory sound after power down).

You need the AirReps156X control app available only for Android in the Google store: AirReps156X - Airoha control app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airoha.utapp.sdk

You should set your device system language to US English otherwise the app will replace all decimal dots with commas and won't be able to save the EQ settings. If the app does not work on your Android device or does not update the EQ settings, look for an older version, I had to choose one of the very first versions, because my phone is already quite old. Otherwise you could try this link for another version which may work better: https://airreps.info/files/app/current.apk

Here you can find the full version history, I use 1.0 with my old phone: https://m.apkpure.com/airreps156x-airoha-control-app/com.airoha.utapp.sdk/versions?_gl=1*1tmehwa*_ga*YW1wLV9qeGhzcUh4cl9lWHpEakluNVVIMEQ0MDc5eVpDS29LN1FreWJ1c2tnY2JfOVZkeXAzc1ZldWNfSXd0bXhpMEI

Here you can find further information how to use the app: https://www.patreon.com/posts/57711555

The gain values are usually limited to +/- 12dB but with a trick you can get higher values than 12 by simply placing the cursor in between the 1 and 2 and typing 5 for example, then deleting the 2 at the back and hit real time update. The 15dB value is stored within the unit and it will remain active until you start switching between different EQs it can happen that it defaults this value to -12 again, keep that in mind.

The most secure way to use the app without messing around with the values is to hit "set index" every time after you change to another EQ slot, this will load the real values stored inside the unit and not default them to other values. Hitting "realtime update" should already save the current values onto the device, I usually hit "save data" at the very end to really get sure everything is saved correctly.

Before choosing the correct EQ you need to seek for your own ear canal resonance which is quite easy to find for the Earfun Free Pro 2 already with it's factory sound. Just open this site or use some other tone generator app and sweep through the range of 5000-8000Hz, you should hear the tone to become loudest at some particular frequency. Then choose the tuning which is closest to your frequency. In my case I get the peak at 6kHz or slightly above or below. In the following measurement you can see the default tuning in blue and raw tuning with an empty EQ slot in red. The peak is easily noticable with both settings, but should be easier to discern with the raw sound and no EQ applied:

My latest neutral EQs for the Earfun Free Pro 2 can be found here for all available resonance frequencies covering a range of 5100-8300hz: https://www.patreon.com/posts/60665035

A more mainstream type of tunings for the Free Pro 2 can be found here. The overall sound is similar to the neutral tunings just with more bass and less upper mids: https://www.patreon.com/posts/60665394

Here is a tuning archive with older versions of my personal tunings for the Free Pro 2: https://www.patreon.com/posts/59746340

All latest tunings for the Free Pro can be found here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/59268942

Older Free Pro tunings based on the original OE edition which I improved afterwards can be found here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/58209125

There are further tricks how to improve the sound for you, in case you have different ear canals for left and right, you could even set 2 different EQs for both your ears like described here, some affected users have reported considerably better results thanks to this method: https://www.patreon.com/posts/59558722

A tutorial explaining the EQ settings in detail can be found here but it's not up to date anymore, I will prepare a new tutorial once all tunings are finished: https://www.patreon.com/posts/57790723

Please let me know if some important information is missing and have fun experimenting with the values and feel free to try your own. I am planning to create a collection of personal user-settings and would welcome anyone to send me their preferred values through a private message also providing me their resonance frequency and I will publish them in a separate post!
