Yesterday I created a first EQ for the Earfun Air Pro 2 which is already available to my enthusiast level tiers. I am quite stunned by the results. I can hear lots of potential from this inear, as already now after my first quick adjustment I perceive it somehow more open and airy sounding than the Free Pro with my tuning. The Air Pro 2 sounds more like an open headphone which may be related to the fact that it doesn’t insert that deep into the ear canal.

But there is one problem: although the custom tuning for the Earfun Air Pro 2 is saved within the unit and will remain saved, it will always switch back to the default tuning again after power down. This means one would need to use the Airoha app to manually switch to the user EQ every time after taking it out of the charging box, which of course is not the best solution.

Because of this I am in discussions with Earfun right now if we could get a custom firmware for the Air Pro 2 with either one single tuning or even different versions with different EQs optimised for the given ear canal length.

So far the response from Earfun was rather reserved, they do not seem to be interested at all therefore I probably won’t invest more time into optimising my current settings any further although I really like its sound after my current adjustment.

I will keep you updated about the progress wirh Earfun. I would just need your feedback on the current tuning, and where to improve it even more. Also important for me is to get again some values from all owners of the Air Pro 2 where exactly you hear the main peak. I hear it at exactly 5450hz and my current settings are optimised for that frequency.

I hope Earfun will decide to help with this as I am sure soundwise it can easily outperform all similar offerings from Anker, Apple etc. But I won’t promote a product which simply sounds bad in its default state. I cannot stand the default tuning and wonder how someone can even listen with this. But the Air Pro 2 has some significant improvements over the Free Pro: more recent design, better ANC and transparency mode, more stable Bluetooth connectivity. Although I have issues with getting a good fit with it and I get some driver flex noises which I never had with the Free Pro.
