Keep in mind that the sound samples are meant to just give you a general idea about the sound differences of both units. They were still recorded with my MiniDSP and a compensation I created some years ago when I started reviewing inears. The compensation back then was just made by ear listening to an Inear and comparing that sound to the compensated recording played back over the HD600, thus the result is not exact but rather a rough approximation. Although the general sound signature is captured well and you should be able to discern the differences between both inears, it’s not able to capture the finest details.

For my future recordings I would like to use my couplers together with the Earfun Free Pro for self referencing to get a more exact sound representation. This will mean that every other recorded IEM listened over the tuned Earfun Free Pro should sound pretty close to the actual thing, but a recording of the Earfun Free Pro will sound exactly like the original recording as it has to reproduce itself with a flat response.

I still have to figure out how to deal with the issue of shifting ear canal resonances, either I will record it with my own resonance which is 6500hz or with an average frequency which I will calculate over all provided values from you.
