I had to use Mike this time, I hope you can still get an idea about how they both sound compared.

Please tell me which kind of videos you prefer, as I think that a recording with an artificial head will offer a better representation of the actual loudness.

Sony SRS-XG500 vs JBL Boombox 2 - outdoors

Nice comparison! I agree, usually not a JBL-fan but this times the Boombox 2 is the winner. More "clear sound". Sony is a bit muddy....

In this recording, the boombox appeared to be overly annoying in the high frequency range

If the sony used tweeters and didn't push the bass that far it would be great it think, for now i will keep my 2 boombox 2's. As i got them cheap for 256€ each. Although i would have liked to be able to remove the limiter to some degree that it doesn't compress the mid bass away. An app with acces to the dsp would be killing, but so far it only seems to come for the xtreme 3.

I think there is still way more potential with that kind of speakers. Just that no company really seems to care to produce something outstanding. It’s all about the money as people will buy them anyhow.

Im 100% sure about that, we need tribit to produce something like that maybe, i also saw some video's about the xiaomi bomber, but i believe its bigger and is comparable to the boombox 2. Probably with worse sound in the end

Sony is at it again with their muddy tuning 🤦‍♂️. Can you try the JBL partybox 310 vs Sony XP700?

Anonymous

Partybox 310, great bass but disappears after 80%, and the treble sounds weird. Xp700- sounds quite ok but no deep bass and its barely louder then a jbl xtreme.

Both not satisfying somehow. I would choose: None of these…. ;-) Still there is no real great partyspeaker available in that size. Teufel Rockster Cross maybe best choice.

Hmm…I wonder how the hyperboom would compare - similar size and price. Not great at low volumes and lacks that deep bass, but goes load whilst retaining its bass and has great sound dispersion.

I prefer the boombox 2 even if it tend to be harsh it still better than a muffled sound like the sony The boombox boosted lower bass still sounds much more « funny » to me The Sony is horrible i mean it still sounds better than a XB60 because they have finally added more highs (but not enough) and some lower bass but it’s already gone at half while the Jbl keeps it more I still prefer my klipsch kmc 3 over these two
