I got some copyright claim for a song of Jason Derulo and the video was blocked in several scandinavian countries, I am currently preparing a version without the affected song and will post the link here as soon as it's ready.

Here the vieo without Jason Derulo: https://youtu.be/ZTOy5wQ6Z6Y

But on occasion of a current discount for the XB33 on German amazon I wanted to post the video already now. You can get the XB33 for 90€ right now and I think for this price it's a killer speaker. I couldn't judge the sound that well when recording through my microphones, but I listened to it a bit more in the meantime and also compared it to the Helsinki and some others and I think it's a very nice speaker, but it needs a bit boost with treble and bass through the Music Center app otherwise it sounds quite boring, but bass is nicely deep and it even plays down to 20hz (although not clean but rather with some added upper tones).

here the amazon.de link (not affiliate):

Wow, decent speaker from Sony!

Are you aware of Humble Bundle? Their current bundle "HUMBLE BIG ROYALTY-FREE MUSIC BUNDLE" has 400+ tracks (26 albums) of royalty free music for $25 ($260 value). It looks like a pretty wide range of music. It's up for the next 18 days. I would think you could find enough music there for speaker tests and bypass all this copyright BS. I imagine it went up cause of Twitch streamers are now getting hit with copyright claims.

thanks, I will check this out. but seems like some weird music genre. I usually like to play what I am currently listening to and enjoying. I won't play music that I personally don't dig

Eagerly waiting for the comparison against the Envaya

Well it is decent as far as one could hear, but i sad it would sound way better than xb-43 and in the end, my apology for saying that, not really what i expected as xb-43 still had that advantage on bass, but at least treble is better, i agree with you against the anker it will be outpeformed, but as substitute in some i think it will do as i had to recommend the xb33 to a guy instead of motion+ because it couldn't be sold to his country, but yeah not a game changer or anything just fits in the same league.

I think with Bass boosted to maximum it would be closer to the XB43 but then it tends to become uncontrolled at high levels and you would need to reduce bass again. But for normal levels the bassboost works just fine

It's possible to disable those "fantastic" leds?

oluvsgadgets

Sure you have to keep some button pressed for several seconds or from within the app

Down to 20Hz?? Is that with music playing or from sine wave testing? Thats pretty crazy if it can play to 20hz on regular music!!! I can get the xb33 for $120 cad (77 euros) including tax, would that be a no brainer price for it? I personally found the motion+ to be lacking for me at max volumes in terms of bass, would this be any better?

Actually this Sony is not bad at all because it sounds better than the xb30 with more definition but at max it becomes softer by sacrificing the loudness for bass It sounds also much better than the xb43 and the funny thing is that the xb33 doesn’t have tweeters and stays clearer with better treble The tuning is a bit off against the old x33 at low level when it set to « default mod » but improvable through the app and has a lot more power I’m pretty sure that the Anker Soundcore Motion+ will kicks its butt at low and high level Thanks again to show us this new Sony because i was so curious to hear it ! Keep up the great videos !

Wow the xb43 really does sound worse. I bought an xb33 last week in an impulse buy as I needed something for the weekend. Was angry at myself for doing it because I could have had the motion + if I was proactive and ordered it a few weeks ago, but I was surprised at the quality that came out of it.

I love the great improvements of the new XB33, very clean sound even at max volume. they have refrain from the previous generations where it would sound very distorted at higher level or max. I still have the XB30 rocking pretty good... The down side I see with XB33 and XB43 is the bias battery life/battery capacity compared from the previous generation. The XB43 is not that portable, no slings or any alternative to carry the speaker with you (except for bags). Its really heavy compared to JBL xtreme 3... Thanks for this great comparison sir Oluv!
