MA Art Style Preview: Zoey! (Patreon)

This post assumes you've read through and/or know about that announcement, so let's jump into it! ^^

Today's preview comparison is focused on Zoey, who we have come to learn during the events of episode 3 & 4, is that she's Nathan's cousin. This comes to a surprise to our protag, but it was just as shocking to his buddy upon finding out that his cousin was attending at the school naturally.

Zoey's kind of a oddball, aloof girl who seems lost in her own thoughts at times and doesn't seem to act mature for her age by any stretch. ^^" 

We'll dive into details and mentions below, but we'll keep things short and sweet! Questions, feedback and thoughts are always welcomed and will be answered or replied to! <3

Starting with Zoey's comparison, we can tell that her face shape has been adjusted lightly and ever so slightly had her head increased for proportions, keeping things fairly close across the cast of characters in mind. 

In this comparison, I want to play fair and so both sprites seen are using the exact same expressions. This means the new style sprite's eyes are her idle expression eyes, so if you'd like to get a feel for how expressive her other eyes look for being angry, sad, happy, etc. We'll have those to look over in the expression sheet preview a bit further down. :P

One thing that I wanted to stress with Zoey's face and new eyes, was to keep that sense of her being zoned out or giving the impression she's staring off in the distance when talking with her, as if she's listening, but at times you're unsure what she's thinking.

There's some other subtle changes and you might be able to see them better if you use Patreon's gallery view feature at the start of this post, rather than the images shown within the text here.

Clearly looking at her expressions with the gallery feature will be muuuch better here. ^^"

For the most part, we're trying to keep the expressions for characters intact without changing those majorly to how they present themselves in-game currently. There are some extras in here for Zoey that felt fitting, like "Confused Extra" is new. "Zoned" and "Horny" as well are new, even though "Zoned" was originally part of her "Normal" expression, but it seemed fitting to split that.
