Behind the scenes writing: Episode 5 (2/6) (Patreon)

This is a behind the scenes look at the upcoming episode writing, which will cover what are called "events" during the episode. Episode 5 is looking to be around 35-40k word count, which is our biggest episode yet and added with the other content planned for v0.20 it'll be our biggest update yet in general.

Moving on within the episode after Brandon meets back up with his buddies, they move onto checking out the gaming club.

The guys make their way over to the club and find Bridget hanging out on her own, already playing and wonder where the rest of the club is, a bit worried that maybe the gaming club is similar to the cosplay club in that there isn't any other members.

This of course is false, it's just that the other members of the gaming club are busy doing other stuff on their own for a bit and won't be back until later.

After some awkward introductions between them all, Bridget answers their questions about the gaming club and it leads to them chatting together for a while and gaming with her, overall having a good time. As things progress with their gaming though, Bridget begins to show off her unique powers that aid her in gaming and little by little, it begins to affect the enjoyment that the guys are getting.

Soon Joey and Nathan decide they're going to head off and check out some other clubs since they have a lot of ground to cover. Brandon seems like he's willing to join them, but Bridget begs for him to stay and play with her for a little bit longer just for another match or two.

Brandon decides to stick around as his buddies head off and mention they'll meet up with him in a little bit. Now that Brandon and Bridget are alone, the two begin their next few matches but Bridget seems set on showing off her amazing powers once more in a more unique way than before.

In the middle of their match, she sits on his lap to obstruct his view and also make it awkward for him. She clearly has to know what she's doing, but then again Brandon just can't let it get to him as he tries to ignore it and focus further on their match in beating her.

But as the matches continue, the awkwardness also continues and she decides to really unleash her special power... Straight into her diaper. It manages to distract Brandon long enough for her to win and enjoy her victory, but his thoughts are too clouded by his feelings within the moment.

Soon enough he makes his exit from the gaming club in hopes of meeting back up with the guys, but along the way he'll bump into a princess who seems confused by a odd club advertisement involving animals and cooking...

~Writer notes~

-So our second event of episode 5 seems to focus around Bridget and the gaming club. I think the setup in mind for this event was to take what made this event from long ago into a more fixed up manner. From Brandon's history, he already has some idea as to who Bridget is from her streamer past. But he'll begin to fill in many blanks during this event as to what kind of person she is outside of her streaming, if what he remembers pairs up or doesn't, etc.

Overall it should be a pretty good event to give Bridget the exposure she needs as a character and give everyone a better idea of what she's like given the chunibyo aspect and just how much of that really plays into her character often.

-The goal I had in mind with this event was to make it feel similar to the old original version from v0.14.5 but add some new stuff going on to mix it up that feels fitting given the direction of everything. I think Bridget has some surprises ahead for many thinking that she might seem too similar to other characters and might be a bit taken back once they realize what she acts like during this event to get a clear image of her.

-This event features a cg scene, one of the few bigger ones for the episode. I believe it has about 7-8 variants that play out in order regardless of choices. It was interesting to go with what we did for this cg scene because I don't believe it was around originally even in context before.

As some of you might recall Bridget from v0.14.5, she might've been a bit forward with some teasing she did among the guys and I won't say she doesn't know how to tease still. The original event didn't really seem to have a clear cg moment, so I think within the context of this new event it'll feel really fitting and hope everyone will enjoy it. ^^

-Little bonus fun fact, but Bridget was originally meant to be the "tomboy" type of character in a different tone compared to Nova who is a bit more sporty tomboy I guess. While Bridget was meant to be a bit more in a way acting like a childhood friend sort of tomboy that doesn't want to really focus on being girly. She was meant to be a bit more dorky and hardcore gamer style tomboy?

Of course these ideas for her long ago sort of failed as I ended up not really sure how to handle things for her and pull off this natural tomboy feeling from her sadly. I will say though that the leader of the gaming club "Sadie" more or less took over this role, so if you're looking forward to a bit of a geeky girl who's big into gaming and has a bit of a tomboy mindset mixed in. You might be happy to see her pop up within Bridget's route episodes. :P
