Bridget redesign: preview #1 (concept sketch) (Patreon)

It was coming sometime this weekend and it's finally here! I know redesigns can be a scary idea, as even the least popular characters still have their own fans and it's something that's been hard to tackle with Bridget.

Bridget has always been a troubling character, in case you're not aware. Bridget was actually originally meant to be a main girl in the game, but Juliet took that spot over instead. (Felt like more was going on for Juliet vs Bridget.)

I could talk quite a bit about scrapped concepts and ideas for Bridget, but that's not what this is all about. This is about what is in front of us today, our first concept sketch preview of the new Bridget to be seen.

You ruined her! Or I love her!

Regardless how you feel, we'll be having a brief poll posted later today asking where you sit personally with how Bridget looks right now.

The stuff that might not be clear from the concept sketch.
-Her hair color is roughly the same red as before.
-Her eye color is roughly about the same as before.
-Bust size is the same as before.
-Body shape has slightly changed to be a little more slim.
-She has freckles on her face.
-Possibly seen with expressions, braces.

Personality changes?

Her personality is changing a bit, she'll come off in a little different tone than before. But overall she should of course have her streamer & video game interest/hobbies going on.

What current Bridget was always meant to be seen as in the game was to be seen as standoffish, slightly rude & tease.

Did we manage to nail any of that? Maybe a bit at times, but a little bit of those traits will carry over at moments. What we will see come more to light is her more bubbly, cheerful qualities.

Some are worried that she'll end up feeling too similar to Miki or even Zoey if this happens, but we think once her personality is seen in action during her intro. It'll give a pretty good sense that she's still her own character and not trying to step on those other character's shoes. It'll be interesting to see her come to life.

When can we expect to see her in the game?

So given the fact we have "current" Bridget and "new" Bridget, among the new content focus right now. We'll see her intro pretty soon, compared to how much of a wait it is in the game currently before her first scene pops up.

When we do add her new sprite in and replace her old sprite, we won't be fixing up dialogue/text for her until later. The only stuff that will reflect her new visuals and personality will be in the more recent content areas of the game until we reach further along.

This is because even if we took the time to go through her many other scenes spread out in the game and wrote up some fixes to how she acts or what not. We'll be having to get back to those areas in the near future anyways and fix up the writing overall for these spots, so it'd be best to just save our limited dev time smartly for now until we naturally reach those spots.

~Final thoughts~

Honestly I think so far, I'm looking at the new Bridget design and without even fully seeing or picturing her new personality added. She's looking nice and I can imagine how the sketch concept above could look more polished with color.
