Behind the scenes: Day 18 Section 2 (writing) (Patreon)

Early preview of the writing for day 18 section 2.

The section focuses on Erika and Joey.


It begins with Brandon and Joey playing their handhelds in Brandon's dorm room, trying to relax after the past days have been filled with many things that's drained them. While playing, they make some small talk and we learn that Joey had taken over 100 pictures of the girls dancing last night. Most of which were of Erika.

After some time passes, a sudden knock at the door turns out to be Erika who decided she wanted to spend some quality time with her brother. After a bit of back and forth, Joey mentions it's okay and he doesn't mind her joining them.

As they return to playing their handhelds at the kotatsu table, Joey and Erika are taking the time to know each other better. With the help of Brandon, he helps fill in some details and helps guide their conversations a bit.

After they're been chatting for a while, a sudden cold draft of air fills the room and it's enough to make Brandon get up, looking for some extra blankets. While he does this, he mentions to Joey if he can crawl under the kotatsu and turn the heater on. Which he does, but he notices that after the glow of the heater turns on, he can see up Erika's skirt as events unfold from there.

-Writer notes-

-This section is roughly 1700-1800 word count and I'd like to compare it to day 14 with Nathan and Nova, where it gives us some time to let Brandon's buddies get a better idea of them and vice versa.

-I wanted to let things be handled a little differently with this section, where instead of making the conversations between the two so linear. The player can choose 3 outcomes for what the two will focus on chatting about to help break up things, along with focusing on learning some details that seem interesting to players.

-Much of the last events before the routes act as wrapping up some details needed to be shared in a sense. As more of these writing behind the scenes come along for days 18 and 19, it'll be clear that these two days are meant to be a bit more relaxed feeling and taking it easy compared to recent past days in the game. As it all leads up to the moment of choosing a girlfriend finally.
