Patreon tax change happening in July news! (Patreon)

Making this public as it can affect those looking to support us in the coming months.

So recently patreon has sent out emails to warn creators about tax changes for support tiers based on what is offered and I'd like to explain a little about this for our page, so everyone knows how we're looking to handle it.

The major thing to note is that as the tiers stand currently $1, $5, $10 & $25 tiers. If these stay how they are, depending on how the taxes are calculated. Patreon will tax a % onto the pricing for the tiers, so instead of paying $5 flat. It might try charging 40 cents on top of it, it could be 80 cents, etc.

Now something to keep in mind when this change from patreon does go through on July 1st I believe it is taking place. I'm doing all that I can personally to set the tiers so that the taxes will not be very high or even adjust things a little so that it isn't trying to charge everyone extra.

There will most likely be some trial and error after seeing how July's payments come in, but I will try my best to keep everyone updated on what measures we're taking to keep the overall pricing for the 4 tiers in check. I've already made sure some settings related to these taxes for each tier are set, but I'll be researching and speaking with other patreon creators in a similar genre to ensure I'm doing the best settings/options.
