I believe you've mixed up your 8s and your 9s.

So this is my first time updating. Do I download the full pack or just the update exe file if I may ask?

If you were on the version prior to this one, so R8, the exe should work fine. If you're on anything older, you have the choice of updating beat for beat though the versions or just grab the full pack. I would recommend in the latter case to just get the full pack and move the old userdata folder to the new game. (Do not just extract over the old game, extract to a new folder and just get the userdata folder from the old game)

How did the mods come along for sunshine lately? I always felt it was lacking in comparison to koikatsu party. Gonna give this a shot now I suppose.
