Few weeks ago Honey Select 2 was released and maybe many of you have tried the game on your own. If you don't know that HS2 is even a thing, please ask your hentai game community for details (and don't ask me for download link). Now it's true that being based on AI, it's not really fresh anymore. But on the upside, it already has months worth of AI mod that it also can use (mostly). And the simpler main game may convince people easier than that island survivor thing from AI Shoujo.

As for me, well I mostly care about the studio which is identical on both games. And when I had to choose between AI and HS2, because my HDD space said so, I picked HS2. By itself the game to me is just typical Illusion game. They fixed some stuff, add new things but also botched stuff that wasn't broken and remove some old things. The new look can be divisive and that is understandable. For me the body looks OK and things like tiny hands already got fixed by mods. I don't use LRE in my HS1 setup so I can't compare the best of HS1 to current HS2  but I like the lighting setup and overall graphics quality.

BUT the main appeal is in modding and the community. HS1 used Unity engine from 2015 which is outdated and not supported anymore but we see how it pushed to the limit by the community. With HS2 using newer Unity, there's so many potential than we can ever imagine now. The best thing is, we now have the chance to make things more organized. HS1 is kinda unorganized mess, it's daunting for first-timer to create proper HS setup with necessary plugins to run the mods. HS2 is much more streamlined, but we'll see if it will stay this way. As for head modding...

Yes, as I said many times I will use my spare time between projects to learn modding AI/HS2 and I've managed to come this far. Still far from finished, and this is mostly for experiment. But anyway, what I can tell you that head modding for HS2 is neither harder nor easier than HS1. Because they made it easier in some aspect but also made other parts more complicated. And more importantly, I have to do everything from scratch. Kaoru you see here use NOTHING taken from my HS1 mod of her. So if you have a character that you want to be ported to HS2, just know that it won't matter much if said character was ported to HS1 before.

The big question here, will I ditch HS1 for HS2? No, my plan is to do BOTH games (once I actually managed to make HS2 mod). If HS2 is exciting future full of potential then HS1 is like comfort zone I can rely on. I know very well HS1 is still in high demand. You too, don't really have to choose. Unless your HDD space said so. Anyway, that's about it. Let me know what you have in mind, dear Patrons, with the poll or comment below.
