Would love to see you react to some torchwood stuff so that’s very exciting! About 5pm uk time would work for me :) but I’m free all Saturday personally. Also Martha does look great in this episode, I love the red leather jacket, the colour really suits her

While I probably wouldn’t be able to catch any live stream due to time zone differences (I’m in Aus), I would perhaps recommend at least Torchwood S01E01, as it lays the groundwork for the characters and concepts. After that, either S01E03 (The Ghost Machine), or S01E12 (Captain Jack Harkness). As for The Sarah Jane Adventures, that’s a bit trickier The initial pilot, Enemy of the Bane, is technically a prequel to series 1, but introduces most of the main characters etc . Not the best episode, but important for context. Then each episode of the actual series is only 25 minutes long, but each story is a two-parter 12 episodes making up 6 stories. So in addition to the pilots (which is a single 60 minute episode) I’d recommend Series 1, episode 3 and 4 (Eye of the Gorgon), and 7 and 8 (Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane). To be honest, both Torchwood and SJA improve markedly in the following seasons (and the 5 part series 3 mini series of TW, Children of Earth, is one of the best pieces of TV sci-fi you will ever experience - no exaggeration), but a couple of stories from the first series of each will at least give you a taste. I do hope you record the livestreams for Patreon, as I’d love to see and hear your reactions/commentary. As to this DW episode, I don’t have much more to add to what’s been said, apart from a little note about The Doctor’s line about “reversing the polarity” when he and Martha get out of the pod. “Reverse the polarity” and “Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow” is a famous phrase from Classic Who, particularly of the 3rd Doctor, Jon Pertwee. There’s actually a super cut of all the times he and a couple of other Doctors saying it - https://youtu.be/QDaCMhKPGys?si=1kbcAZYp4FEKTzAE.

We never really got to see the Companions' lives outside of the Doctor on Classic Who--Rose was the first one whose personal life we actually saw so this thing that happens when he met Jackie and Mrs. Jones is actually quite new and something he still has yet to acclimate to it as of Series 3.
