Really enjoyable reaction, so sweet how much you cared about the link with the wife-dog-John and appreciated the choreography so much. Being totally cold on killing the deserving I appreciated that they kept John a decent human outside the revenge - he was always avoided innocent victims either by when not shooting as when Iosef used the woman as a shield, the accountant women in the vault or by the angles of shots he chose where there were tight humans like the dance floor…. Above how much I love the general dance smoothness of the choreography and realism in counts of ammo, there was something that grabbed me the first time I watched and is what absolutely made the difference for me in the fights scenes and is something that I’m not sure how many pick up but I think maybe one or both of you did: In almost all action films the choreography and actions of the protagonist in fighting are laid out and followed as target-of-opportunity, whereas they set John's style of fighting up as (more realistically when experienced and to actually stay alive) as threat-assessment based. No matter how many times I see it my absolute favorite thing about this film that makes it great is watching the judgement the character is showing in his choices of disablements and kills sequences based on threat level - be it the individual(s) attacking or where he’s standing in a room. Great movie in so many ways, but actual brain work went into the fight choreography and it’s gorgeous and refreshing.
