Status - August 23 (Patreon)

Alright, let's see where we're at!

July has gone, and now August is here - we're well and truly into the second half of the year now. Here's hoping the break has done me some good, and that everything's going well for all of you out there.

So, as I mentioned before the break, I'm putting my prices up. And, as I do, I'll be changing how things work a bit. Normally I'd like to space stuff like this out a bit, but I felt it was best to minimise the disruption as much as possible. This'll all go into effect next month, so no need to panic, everything for August will go on as normal. If all goes well, I'll be making these changes in September.

What'll be changing? Right, let's get into specifics.

I'm going to be raising my base prices from $15 per 1000 words to $20 per 1000 words. This won't affect any of the non-commission tiers at all, but it will mean some hikes to any tiers that get writing rewards, which I'll get into in a moment. First, though, I want to cover the system changes, too.

I love writing this stuff, I genuinely do. This is an amazing job and I'm incredibly lucky to have it, and to have as much support as I've been given by you guys - seriously, thank you so much. That said, though, I have to look towards the future, and make some changes to be sure that I'm going to be able to continue writing like this, and to that end I think I have to start moving to write more original content than I originally do.

I mean, it doesn't have to be the most original stuff out there. I'm very happy to do stuff heavily based on other properties! But I'd have to change a few names, at least, you know?

To this end, I'm going to be cutting the Shorts tier in half - with five slots for 'Original Content' requests (... I'll work on the name), and five slots that are free of the original only restriction that will be slightly more expensive. Hopefully that's all clear? So, prices from September onwards:

Star/Extra/Power Patrons: Unchanged! Thank you a ton for your support!

Shorts/Mega Patrons: These tiers are being discontinued, and replaced with:

Ultra Patrons: $30 for 1 1-2k word short per month, with an 'original content' only restriction. 5 slots.

Fantasy Patrons: $35 for one 1-2k word short per month, without the above restriction.

Hyper Patrons: This tier is being replaced by:

Nova Patrons: $80 for one 4-5k word story per month. No restriction changes.

I hope all of that was clear, and doesn't feel arbitrary or anything. I'm trying to push for the best results for you guys, but if I'm missing the mark, please let me know.

Once again, thank you for all of your support, everyone. In return, I'm trying to be the best writer and writer-running-a-patreon I can be, and if you have any ideas of ways I can improve, please let me know. I've discussed these changes with some patrons, but not nearly all, and I do want to hear as much feedback as possible.

One last thing - Much as it annoys me, I'll only be writing for two months this time around, and taking a break in October. I really wish there was a better way of doing this, but Patreon really only allows me to take month long breaks, and I have a fairly big event happening in the middle of the month that will stop me from being able to write for the duration. To make up for it I'll likely be writing a ton of flashfics on discord during that month, so drop by my server there if you're interested in those!
