Hey folks.

Well, it's been a hell of a year, hasn't it? I wouldn't even know where to start with world events, so I'll just leave it at I hope everyone is okay out there. Stay safe y'all! This time last year I was putting my writing on hold because I simply couldn't write anyone - a hiatus that lasted for months on end, and was entirely miserable. Happily, I don't feel any need to do that again this year! In fact I'm more productive than ever, as some of these supposed 'shorts' show!

Speaking of, I'm definitely going to have to change how I do those posts. I really love the idea of challenging myself to write as much as I can in a strict time period, but I still have my limits. I'm going to be adding a few rules to the next set of shorts that I do, and I'd value any input you guys have to add to them. Right now, I'm thinking I'll be putting a limit on myself to write only a certain amount each week, and then taking a break - though I'm still debating which form that limit should take. I'm torn between a limit on the amount of stories I write in a week (perhaps 10?) or a limit to the word count I do in a week (30k, perhaps?). The word count is more reflective of the amount of work I'd be limiting myself to, but a story limit would likely be more accessible to short commissioners. What do you guys think?

I'll also be experimenting with how I take short prompt submissions - namely, I'll be putting the prompt post up a week ahead of time so that people can get their ideas in without hassle - which also gives me the chance to respond to their ideas and let them know if I'm unfamiliar with a property they'd like me to write for (though I'm always happy to take a shot at it). The 'write as the requests come in' style is a lot of fun but this might be a more sensible approach.

Also, I mentioned a while back that I'm going to be looking to adjust my prices, though hopefully not by too much. However, I don't want to inconvenience any of my current patrons - you guys have given me a ton of support over the years and I'm really grateful. Thus, I'm going to be instituting a kind of loyalty program - you can hold your current tiers at their current prices for as long as you like, though they will become inaccessible for new subscribers, replaced with the new prices. Hopefully this'll be a smooth transition. I'll be sorting this out at some point in January when everything has settled down a bit, so make sure you're happy with what you've got now!

Finally... Thank you, everyone who's supported me over the past year. It has been a bumpy ride, and I was really shocked when so many people returned to this patreon - and how many new people joined as well! I hope you've enjoyed the stories, and please do let me know if there's anything I can do to spruce this place up a bit. I hope 2022 continues this train upwards, but even if it doesn't, it's been an amazing journey all the same.

Happy new year, everyone - good luck out there.

- D.
