I did a boo boo. Everyone knows you should never update software during the middle of the project. But unfortunately my render PC is also my gaming PC and I had to update the drivers to play Baldur's Gate 3 (amazing game by the way). Unfortunately those drivers are incompatible with Daz and make rendering incredibly slow. So I've had to roll back to old drivers, but now they're bugging out and whenever my PC restarts, rendering times become mega slow again.

So fixing that has been my morning, which I think I've managed to do, but holy crap it's annoying. It'd be lovely if there was a way to have two sets of drivers installed and just easily switch between them or just choose which program uses which. Would save so many headaches.

Anyway, for game progress, it's going pretty well. I also updated Ren'py to 8.1 as that gives a bunch of benefits such as supporting Python 3, faster loading times on game launch and most importantly, allows support for the Steam Deck. This did require some code changes though, so a lot of testing will need doing as I'm sure there'll be bugs introduced. Like I said, you should never really update software mid development, but needs must sometimes! If anyone wants to get the second beta, it's available here!

I only have four story scenes left to implement and then a couple of side scenes I want do add. I will be moving house in a couple of weeks, so that's going to slow things down a bit. As I said a while ago, this update cycle may take a little longer than usual cycles for 2-3 months. It's been a busy few weeks dealing with life stuff!

Have you thought of a dual boot drives. One for gaming one for rendering. You just have to select the boot each time.

PTGames

Yeah, it is something I am considering. Work drive and gaming drive.

Fuck, I'm pretty sure drivers are kernel mode, so you can't switch while the machine is running, but having two installs you can boot into is a good idea. Just make sure you know which one you're running before starting work.

Redcelticdrake

No pictures of scenes in the update.

PTGames

Those are in the preview posts. There's been two for this version so far.

Single GPU passthrough on a VM could be an option depending on PT's setup. but my god its a pain in the ass to get setup
