First of all, my arm hurts.  I got my second COVID jab yesterday rather unexpectedly. Thankfully (so far) all that's happened is my arm hurts. Although I am currently fighting the urge to have a nap. Whether that's vaccine related or just because I love a good nap I don't know.

Anyway, onto the game progress. It's going well. I'm currently working on a new animated scene for Amy. I'm sticking to my old animation style where I do them in Ren'py rather than making a video and playing it in the game like I did with the main menu. I find the in Ren'py style gives me more freedom.

I've also just finished rendering a new scene with Claire. This one gives us a glimpse into how she spends her free time these days, as well as meeting someone she was not expecting to see.

Also, people have been theorising a lot about Amber, considering she went from one day having a load of money her grandfather left her to being broke and homeless. That finally gets answered, but also sets up something new about the relationship she has with her mother (No, not that kind of relationship you big pervs).

So, all of these scenes, plus some other bits and bobs like new menu images for the club will be coming in the next beta, which hopefully will be coming this Friday! Of course, that's subject to change and not set in stone, but that's the goal I'm aiming for!

One important thing to remember about using collections of images and letting Renpy do the animating is that it will take a lot more space that if they were encoded as a proper video.

This is true, but if I then want to vary the speed of the animation, I either need to extend the loop in the vide which makes the file bigger or use multiple videos at different speeds. So the end result means a video actually takes more speed as I can re-use the same images within ren'py over and over for whatever speeds I need. If it were just a single loop without any variation, then yes, I'd use a single video.
