They have, they either don't get it or don't want to get it. There are genuinely ex-twitterati posting at mods on mastodon.social arguing that they should just break the protocol so they can just follow who they like without having to go to a different browser tab or join a different instance. But they don't want to acknowledge the massive problems twitter has for the people that have to manage it and that's a problem mastodon solves in the protocol, it just rebalances the convenience.
