my guess is you weren't supposed to know ainz was evil and were supposed to side with the lizardmen, it was supposed to bring shock value and pull your feelings a little bit

Small trivia about the scrolls because they dont explicitly explain it in the anime Demiurge is responsible for making those scrolls. He has a "Human Farm" where he skins humans alive to get the hide to make those scrolls. Afterwards they heal the human back up and skin them again and again and again... Forever. Demiurge is the most evil npc in nazarick by far Demiurge will refer to them as Sheep in front of ainz

The light Novel was way more brutal and cruel than you can imagine. (Which i why i can totally understand why they cut out so many things) Not only the World they are in now but the world they lived in before was extraordinarily cruel. For Example the game has been closed down because "It gave people too much hope and happyness" For many people the world of ygdrasil was litterally their home. Thats why Ainz sees his guardians in so high regards because, even before he was transported to this new world, he viewed nazarick as his real home.

Here is a fun fact (It's not a spoiler) : Elder Lich Iguva was actually the adventurer who was killed by Mare at the start of season 1 episode 11 :/
