The covers are always a big deal artwise, since they carry a lot of weight in setting the tone in the chapter... I spend a lot of time on them and try to push myself to do an especially good job.

Attached is a shrunk-down version of my original .psd file with all of my preliminary sketching, and all of my painting. The guideline that goes off-screen is my vanishing point, which I filled outwards from using Lazy Nezumi. Pretty much all of the colors were set from the tiny thumbnail sketch I posted here a few weeks ago, but the architecture and detailing were kind of up in the air until this weekend, as well as some proportion changes. We will all be seeing more of that soon as I continue to pull designs out of my ass an onto your screens...

In general though, Pasori art and architecture are based around natural motifs found in Borea (types of snow, primeval wood, rock, etc). Modern Pasori tastes favor heavy architecture that implies structure from randomness... many tribes already practice this type of art, carving art directly into trees, or out of live stone. They dislike "dainty" art, things that are easily broken or need to be coddled. This tower is another example, expressing rough hewn rock at the bottom of each tier which rises into heavy branches at the top.

But yeah, the larger non-text version of the page is also up there! In case you want to see my mistakes up close, haha. I ended up liking this cover so much I made it my new desktop wallpaper, sorry Dagre.
