Just a little thing for Meek readers...

The Pasori live in the far North, in the harshest areas of Dia. They are characterized by their black hair, strong  and swarthy features, and "barbarism." They're quite used to warfare, high infant mortality, random attacks from interlopers, starvation, etc., and are seen by the rest of the world as almost inhuman- at least, until a young man named Luca deSadar rose to power and united the Pasori and Santri peoples against the Carissi to become the strongest country in the world.

The Pasori are traditionally divided into tribes. In the beginning there were seven major tribes; the Gulo, Huoka, Ar, Kan, Azlur, Llivor and Mepat. The tribes each have their own totemic animal, but don't necessarily worship them- rather, they use the specific behaviors of their totem as a guide for their own. In their shared creation myth, Father Dark passed judgment upon the earth, allowing only those strong and clever enough to live on it to inherit it. Some tribes have fared better in their mission than others (the Ar tribe has been extinct for several years, and many tribes have split into regional factions or formed into a new tribe).

Tribes are also divided along a vague North-South alignment, what the Santri refer to as Superborea and Suborea. The far Northern tribes (super) live in an environment of constant ice and snow and permafrost. The ground there never completely unfreezes, and in many areas is hardly ever seen due to heavy snowfall. They consider the Southern tribes (sub) to be "thawed," a grave insult that means unstable, reduced, etc. Indeed, many members of the Southern tribes defected to the Santri country of Mesda prior to (or even during) the war, lured by the prospect of easy wealth and power.

Prior to the Emperor's rise to power, the Santri and Pasori people were frequently at odds with one another over border disputes and immigration. Eventually a compulsory enrollment into the Mesdan army was enacted, which provided a lot of live bodies towards the end the 30 Years War against Caris. After the Emperor reunited Old Mesda and Borea into the Territories, the Pasori were encouraged to intermingle with the Santri and integrate. Southern tribes tend to be more acclimated to interactions with non-Pasori people, whereas many Northern tribes have retreated further to the North to avoid thawing.

In the end, all Pasori deeply believe in their ordained role as heirs to the throne, as it were. If the only way to inherit the earth is to survive it's trials, no matter how unforgiving they are, then their claim is truly the strongest.

The image at the top is from a bonus comic I did for the very very very limited printing of the Chapter 2 floppy, which has some of the Father Dark story in it. I'll be sharing that pdf with yalls for the start of Chapter 5 in early Feb.

Duke BG

/me checks his meekipedia notes. Looks like some pasori tribes, that had no lore previously, changed their names a bit!

Der-shing Helmer

Maybe, maybe not... some tribes have been renamed or split off (these are just the very very original seven, several of which don't exist anymore).

Verteiron

Ouch, and he called his son thawed...
