Imagine that you are a prominent anime director in 1988. Char’s Counterattack has just started playing in theaters. A producer from Sunrise invites you to a casual meeting at a local coffee shop or restaurant and asks if you’d like to work on this new Gundam project they’re putting together...

They’d like you to put together a short pitch for a story set in the Universal Century. The catch is that you only get one, 24-minute episode in which to tell your story. 

For this year's contest, we want you to send us your single-episode 0080 pitch. We’re going to be reading a lot of these so you can submit one (1) entry, which should be no more than 300 words and contain no spoilers (nothing released after Gundam 0080).

There have been lots of questions about what we mean by 'no spoilers', so to clarify: you should write your pitch as though you are doing so in 1988 and possess only the Gundam knowledge that a fan could have in 1988. The pitch should not rely on events, characters, or mobile suits introduced after 1988. That means a pitch like 'Teenaged Haman's first day at Axis High School' would be OK but 'Haman joins Gato's mission and steals the GP01' or 'Theo Fairchild teaches Seabook to bake bread' would be rejected.

Your story doesn't necessarily need to take place in UC 0080, just imagine that it is getting made instead of War in the Pocket.

We might read portions of these on the podcast or post them on Patreon or our social media accounts, so don’t write anything you wouldn’t want shared.

As usual, we’ll be giving away four prize bundles: one to my favorite entry, one to Nina’s favorite, one to the entry favored by our Patrons (chosen by vote), and the final winner will be selected at random out of all the contest entries.
