Weird, I always assumed Ness was a localization change from Mother 2 to Earthbound, but his name was always Ness? Like the way I pronounce NES? I still say Snezz though for SNES.

I *think* the name was always Nes, but I haven't checked to confirm. And this will come up next week, but the game actually came out AFTER Victory, so it's highly unlikely it inspired that name - just an odd coincidence! - Nina
