51:47-The last aerial torpedo attack was by eight USN A-1 Skyraiders carrying Mark 13 torpedoes on May 1, 1951. They went against the sluice gates of the Hwachon Dam in Korea. One gate was destroyed and the other damaged.

The other advantage of aircraft carriers over battleships is the ability to concentrate force. The 4 Task Groups of TF38 were spread out over a wide area of ocean at the time of the Battle of Leyte Gulf. If they had been battleship forces they would not have been able to easily concentrate to overwhelm an enemy force. But because of the range advantage it didn't matter (until Samar) that the TGs were so far apart. Even the Taffys made use of this advantage as Kurita was battered by planes from 2 other TGs besides the one he was himself shooting at. This is also why cavalry often has an advantage over infantry.
