I know, it's unbelievable sometimes. Being semi-retired I've taken up much of the house cleaning and other chores. I listen while I do the work. My wife wants to know if he can do 8-10 hour videos because the house and yard have never looked so good and she has a LOT of other stuff for me to do. I'm beginning to wonder if they are in cahoots! Have a great day everyone!

The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force which can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Services of the United States. The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his comrades and must have involved risk of life.

Admiral Callaghan's appropriate award should have been the Order of the Rising Sun.

Mr. Drach, if you "had" to be a curator, over which ship would you like to curate? Don't mean to insinuate the ship has a soul.

Scott

I am reading Neptune’s Inferno by the late James Hornfischer, and there is a discussion of the recommendations on pp.375-378. I think that while Mflash has the general sense of it above, there was also a very strong sense that if Callaghan and Scott had not prevented the IJN from accomplishing their mission, the U.S. might have lost Guadalcanal. Certainly General Vandegrift, who had been there with his Maines since the first landings, seemed to hold that view. And the Japanese were themselves taken aback by the ferocity of the American naval forces, which had generally been rather tentative until that time in surface combat.
