Notice that they showed all those familiar at the execution but the 1 they didn't was Crocodile(just the back of the head). Adds to the speculation of Croc being a woman. There is a more elaborate theory where Crocodile is Luffy's mom. It actually makes a good amount of sense the more you think about it.

Because you can argue Ivan hinted or implied this. A character we just met that we’ve seen change peoples genders has some super secret about crocodile to the point it embarrasses him and keeps him in line? It’s not hard to understand why people would jump to this theory considering the timing of all that. Not sure why you’re so surprised unless you forgot about that encounter in impel down.
